My Top Five Favorite Series

There are times when we are reading and we want more than just a one and done. We want characters that feel real and that we can cling to. We want plot lines that are long and in-depth, but still have the ability to grab and keep our attention. Below I have a list of some of my favorite series that have fulfilled my needs and exceeded my expectations. Enjoy!

1. The Moon Series by Desiree

Babyyyy, this right here has had me in a chokehold! This is an Black, urban, paranormal, romance series. If there is one thing that Desiree is going to do she is going to tell the hell out of a story! Her writing style brings her characters to life, which is why a lot of her readers seriously become attached to them. Not only that, but the plot line has the perfect amount of romance, drama, hood shit, and magic that has left me wanting more. All of this combined is what makes this series one of my all time favorites!

Books in the Series:

  • Hoodwinked

  • Moon Child

  • Charmed

  • Fantasea

  • Skye Fall

2. Crush/Crushed by Ivy Symone

Ivy, Ivy, Ivyyyyy! This is one of the earlier adult series that I’ve read personally, and I am still in love with it. Now I can’t simplify the plot of these stories because a lot happens, but they are Black urban romances. All of the romance, sexiness, drama, and secrets take this series to the next level for me. It’s also just very well written, which I appreciate. Lastly, I have two words: JAH and ELI! Girllllllllllll!! They both were the perfect mixture of dominance, sexy, and humor (read it and you will see).

Trigger Warnings ⚠:

Miscarriage

Cancer

Death

Books in the Series:

  • Crush 1-3

  • If You’re Willing

  • Crushed 1-2

3. Muted Hopelessness by Love Belvin

Now this right hereee! Love Belvin had their foot on my neck! This had me talking to myself out loud in public (lol)! Simplifying the plot, I’d say it is the evolution of a secret love affair. It was a slow burn for me, but I’m telling you to SEE IT THROUGH. As you read the story gets better and better. Love Belvin is a phenomenal writer and storyteller.

Trigger Warnings ⚠:

Child Molestation

SIDs

Bullying

Drug Abuse

Books in the Series:

  • My Muted Love

  • Our Muted Recklessness

  • Our Reckless Hope

4. It’s Wrong For Me To Love You 1-3 by Krystal Armstead

If I had one word to describe this story it would be TEA! It’s basically telling the story of multiple intertwining love triangles amongst a group of friends (maybe a love hexagon??? Idk). When I tell you that reading this story felt like I was getting some juicy, messy gossip. Krystal Arnstead put her foot in this! She wrote it well and she weaved together a plot line that kept me interested. Definitely a ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐!

Trigger Warnings ⚠:

Sexual Assault

Child Abuse

Death

Suicide

Stillbirth

5. Front Street Porter/ On us by Nina

Now I know everybody knows about them PORTER BOYSSSS (and if you don’t you need to get to it ASAP)! Nina is one of those authors whose writing is proof that they are passionate about their artistry! I mean she wrote the hell out of this series and it has garnered a cult following. I can confidently say that this series will go down as a classic in the future!

Trigger Warnings ⚠:

Child Abuse

Child Molestation

Miscarriages

Domestic Violence

Extreme Mental Illness

Books in the Series:

  • Front St Porter

  • On Us

  • On Us 2

  • On Us 3

Honorable Mentions

The Carter Girls by Desiree Granger

I’ll probably do a more thorough review on some of these in the future, but I just wanted to hurry up and put y’all on! If you made it this far, thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy (trust me YOU WILL)!

Ciao 💋
